SnapnRack solar mounting systems configuration tool
The solution we created facilitates the mounting of solar systems while getting a clear cost breakdown of the installation project.
Client and challenge
SnapnRack is a leading producer of solar racking and mounting solutions and a large dealer of solar manufacturers. The client closely cooperates with construction companies and provides solar installation services.
To prepare and facilitate pre-installation activities, SnapnRack needed a software tool that would automatically create an arrangement of panels and a bill of materials (BOM) based on specified parameters.
The tool had to be integrated into the existing website so that in-house engineers, partners, and prospective customers could use it.

Solution
The engineers at EffectiveSoft created the SnapnRack Mounting System Configurator, a web-based solution helping calculate a mounting system bill of materials and showing a layout of solar panels.
End users select a mounting type and enter solar module information along with installation site requirements. The entered values are then sent to the calculator connected to the database. The developed calculation logic creates a suggested arrangement of panels along with a BOM.
A tool user can export a configuration tool report to Excel or PDF.
The web app is accompanied by the admin panel that allows the employees of SnapnRack to view statistics on BOM, see recently generated BOMs as well as users who created them.

Adjustability. Most solar panels are to be selected from the dedicated database. In case of absence, a custom selection option is available.
